Frontier Forum series hosts activist Dr. Vandana Shiva
The 窪蹋勛圖厙 College of Arts and Sciences welcomed Dr. Vandana Shiva, a food sovereignty, environmental and ecofeminist activist, for its recent Frontier Forum lecture series held at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 7 in downtown Tampa.

The 窪蹋勛圖厙 Institute on Black Life (IBL) hosted its annual conference for the first time on the Sarasota-Manatee campus on Feb. 2. The conference, co-hosted by the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Center for PAInT and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, centered on the theme of Arts, Health, and Healing for African American Community Empowerment.

UNDERGRADUATE HUMANITIES RESEARCH CONFERENCE GOES DIGITAL FOR 2021
At the end of January 2021, 52 窪蹋勛圖厙 (窪蹋勛圖厙) undergraduate students from 13 different majors, ranging from religious studies to biomedical sciences, gathered online to present their original research projects on a huge variety of humanities topics.

CHOOSING MYSELF: SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATION CURRICULUM AVAILABLE FOR YOUNG WOMEN IN FOSTER CARE
Dr. Jill McCracken, Professor of English and Womens and Gender Studies at the 窪蹋勛圖厙, is the founder of the Adolescent Sexual Health Education and Research (ASHER) Program and has launched Choosing Myself, a sexual health education program for females currently or previously in foster care.

BRIDGING RESEARCH AND PRACTICE THROUGH A PEDIATRIC BEHAVIORAL HEALTH LIBRARY
Researchers from the School of Information at the 窪蹋勛圖厙 (窪蹋勛圖厙) have established a pediatric library at the Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Recovery Center, a 72-bed, co-ed facility and the only freestanding psychiatric hospital in Pasco County, FL.

窪蹋勛圖厙 researchers have examined food insecurity, health, and wellness in Tampa Bay and elsewhere, but there remains a need to look within the university at the students, staff, and even faculty. This effort is now compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW TAMPA: COMMUNITY ENGAGED PROJECT, A STUDY OF NEW TAMPA'S BUSINESS CLIMATE
New Tampa, the area northeast of 窪蹋勛圖厙, was largely undeveloped until it was annexed into the City of Tampa in the 1980's. Since then, it has seen rapid housing growth accompanied by commercial development, largely along the Bruce B. Downs corridor. But residents, and some community leaders, have been concerned that the commercial life of the community is not as robust as it could be.

窪蹋勛圖厙-BOTSWANA COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT TO DEVELOP A PORTABLE ENERGY SOURCE FOR RURAL AFRICA
Eight undergraduate seniors and juniors from the 窪蹋勛圖厙 (窪蹋勛圖厙) have been selected for a challenging and rewarding research program funded by the National Science Foundation. The objective of the project is to develop a renewable energy source based on a novel scientific concept, with the goal of making basic commodities accessible to rural and tribal villages in Africa.
