The Lifelong Learners of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø student organization was recognized as the Student Organization Program of the Year during ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s 2024 Celebration of Leadership Awards. This distinction honors a student organization that positively contributes to the growth of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's community through creative approaches to reach a diverse student body.
Faculty advisor from the School of Aging Studies, Amy Corbin, LCSW, accepted this award alongside students Kevin Lipton, president of the organization, and Chen-Yi Huang, who serves as vice president.
As Lipton began auditing classes and exploring different student organizations, he shared with Corbin that it was difficult to find a group with a sense of community representative of his experience. Lifelong Learners of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø was born to better connect and represent ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's diverse student body. The group fosters intergenerational relationships through multiple free events and mentorship opportunities.
"It is often through a series of small steps that we can cultivate sustainable change," said Corbin.
Lifelong Learners of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is helping to pave the way for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's Age-Friendly University initiative.
