Engineering Faculty named Faculty Mentor of the Year by Florida Undergraduate Research Association
Nancy Diaz-Elsayed, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, has been named the 2025 Faculty Mentor of the Year by the Florida Undergraduate Research Association. She received the award during the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference opening ceremony on Friday, February 14 at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Marshall Student Center.

Former Military Engineer’s Generosity Enhances Hands-On Learning for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Engineering Students
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø College of Engineering is excited to announce a generous donation of electronic components, including processors, capacitors, resistors, antennas, etc., that will enable ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø engineering students to put a system together. The donation was received from Gary Rosenberg, a distinguished engineer with over four decades of experience in the field. His contribution to our engineering students’ education will create opportunities for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students to gain hands-on experience that complements their theoretical studies at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø College of Engineering.

His work focuses on creating a communication-centric validation framework, leveraging advanced deep sequence modeling to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of these critical systems.

According to U.S. News & World report, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s online graduate engineering program is ranked No. 53. according to the 2025 Best Online Graduate Programs rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s highest-ranked program is inside the Top 20 among all public and private universities and another program improved by 24 places to break into the Top 50.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Engineering Professor Elevated to IEEE Fellow: Lawrence Dunleavy
Professor Larry Dunleavy (EE) has been honored by the IEEE Board of Directors with elevation to IEEE Fellow, effective January 1, 2025, in recognition of his significant contributions to the commercial development of microwave device models and his leadership in microwave education. This prestigious distinction is awarded to fewer than 0.1% of voting members each year, making it a truly remarkable achievement.
