The Fall 2019 semester is right around the corner and Bulls are going to be seeing some big changes across the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø campus. Whether you’re looking for a fresh place to grab something to eat or are walking down a newly named street, there’s plenty of new things to see, eat and experience around campus. This is your inside look at some of the latest and greatest from across ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
Marshall Student Center
Panera Bread
A full-service Panera Bread is opening this fall inside of MSC. Occupying the location where Einstein Bros. Bagels used to be, the new Panera will have a full menu, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner options, as well as a complete bakery. Even cooler is that the location will be donating all unsold bakery items and fresh produce to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Feed-a-Bull Food Pantry.
**Don’t stress – you can still get your Einstein Bros. Bagels fix at the Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare location.
The Bullpen
The area of MSC that once housed Beef ‘O’ Brady’s has been transformed into The Bullpen – MSC’s new eating and hang out spot. On the food side, The Bullpen has been outfitted with a full-service Chick-fil-A, complete with kiosk ordering, a first-of-its-kind for the popular national chain. You will also find a new Bento Sushi location in the Pen. Brand new to campus, Bento Sushi will offer made-to-order sushi, ramen, poké bowls and more.
Along with the dining options, The Bullpen is also designed to give students a place to hang out. Complete with TVs, a pool table, air hockey, Instagram-able art features and outdoor games, the area is sure to be a popular spot on campus.
Food Court
There are a few big changes to MSC’s always-popular food court. The location made available with Chick-fil-A’s move to The Bullpen is now occupied by 813 Eats, a gourmet grab & go market featuring local Tampa products, a salad bar and more.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Dining Services has also made some big changes to help alleviate long lines at the food court. Starting this year, patrons will now order and pay for their food at each food court location – instead of at centralized registers. The change to the service system, along with the addition of Mobile Ordering at each location, will help ease congestion across the entire food court.
At ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø St. Pete, construction is moving along on the new residence hall and dining facility. With completion expected next year, the 375-bed residence hall will expand ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøSP’s on-campus housing by nearly 70 percent.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Bookstore
If you’re popping into the Bookstore for a new ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø t-shirt, you’ll see some big changes. In Tampa, a complete renovation was done to update and modernize the facility. The changes include an enhanced café, increased seating and infrastructure upgrades. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø St. Pete’s bookstore has also seen some major improvements.
Two new workspaces designed to provide better access and support for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Sarasota-Manatee students are now open on campus. The offices house a new tutoring center, operated by the Office of Learning Support Services, and an office for the Honors Program Collaborative. Students looking to utilize the resources can find them down the hall from the FCCI Rotunda.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Genshaft Drive
Just over one month after retiring as the president of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Dr. Judy Genshaft’s legacy is being honored with new street signs bearing her name. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Genshaft Dr. is replacing Maple Dr. It runs between ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Alumni Dr. and East Fletcher Ave. where several buildings are located, such as the Muma College of Business, C.W. Bill Young Hall and the Campus Recreation Center.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Laurel Drive Extension and Parking Lot
Crews have completed work on an extension of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Laurel Drive that runs from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Palm Dr. next to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Publix. The new road will give students, faculty and staff a new way to enter and exit campus from Fletcher Ave. and ease some of the traffic that backs up along ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Palm Dr., creating safer pedestrian crossing on Palm. The new road also provides access to a brand-new 300 car parking lot. The lot will be zoned for residential students (‘R’ permits).
Morsani College of Medicine & Heart Institute
Slated to open in just a few months, the new Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute in downtown Tampa will transform the city center. Bringing with it 1,800 students, faculty and staff, the facility will be a hub for teaching, research and innovation as the key anchor at Water Street Tampa.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Park on the Riverwalk
If you’re headed downtown, make sure to check out the newly updated ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø park. Located on the Riverwalk near Ashley Dr. and W. Platt St., the park is the perfect place to stop and relax while walking along the river. It’s also a good spot for Instagram photos!
Starbucks – Tampa Library Location
Bulls will notice a total refresh at the Tampa Library’s Starbucks location. The coffee shop has been transformed over the summer and will offer the same great coffee, food and snacks studying students have come to rely on.
